I'm experimenting with posting photos when we are in Norway.  Below are some spring wildflowers from where we live.  Hope to see something as pretty in Norway!  Pasqueflower, Shooting Stars, Fairyslippers, Moss flower forest!

I checked the weather in Bergen today: cloudy with a high of 51.  Tomorrow they are expecting sun and 60 degrees.  Sunrise is at 4:28, sunset at 10:45!!  Only one more week!

Happy Memorial Day!

We traveled south for the weekend to see Colter and Larkin.  It had rain/snowed all day in Bozeman.  We went on to Red Lodge on Saturday morning, only to find several inches on the ground in town, over a foot of new snow up on the mountains, and still snowing.  They couldn't open the Beartooth Highway with the weather.  We drove up to the gate to have a look anyway.
And then we had an opportunity for family photos.

We drove up the ski area road and found it gated as well.  Colter, Alli and Warren hiked on up and took a run--pretty rocky with no base.

We enjoyed a good dinner and a swim at the motel.  After church the next morning, we checked the road status, and the Highway had opened partially.  We headed up again, and the  following photos show you where our brave bunch skinned/hiked up and had a thrilling run down while I played photographer.

We celebrated Warren's birthday with another good dinner back in Bozeman.  On Monday we toured Colter's research lab and shopped at REI in Bozeman, then had another good visit with Larkin as we returned her back to Missoula.  What an awesome family visit!!

Three Weeks to Go!

Less than 3 weeks until we leave for Norway!!  We are trying to get things wrapped up here at school in the last big push to the end of the year.  This weekend, Memorial Day, we plan to get Larkin in Missoula and head on to Bozeman to see Colter and Alli.  We plan to go over to Red Lodge where the famous Beartooth Highway will be opening; I'll drive the others to the top, where they will ski down to a switchback on the road where I'll pick them up again!  Should be fun unless the weather is yucky--definite possibility.

As I've been checking webcams in Norway, I've noticed that Spring is just arriving--the trees look like Kalispell did a month ago.  Go figure.  Oslo is right on the 60th parallel and Bergen is just above it.  Just for reference,  the Canada/U.S. border is the 49th parallel, Denver is just below the 40th and Houston is at the 30th.  Mt. McKinley is on the 63rd parallel!  We are definitely heading to the North Country!  Click here to check out the Norwegian webcam site I found.  You might also enjoy keeping tabs on the weather:  http://www.wunderground.com/global/NO.html
